WINTER CELEBRATIONS

During the winter holidays, Izola is going to become an ice island of unforgettable winter adventures with no end in sight. The icy kingdom promises a brand new ice-skating rink, plenty of music, theatre plays, dancing, and fun. For a cherry on top, there will be delicious food by our restaurateurs.

From the 30th November until the19th January, the Ice Island (#LedeniOtok) invites you to enter the kingdom of winter stories, music, dancing, good food, ice skating and children’s fun that will take over the glistening Pietro Coppo Park.

The elves have published the complete calendar of events on the VisitIzola website. Lea Sirk and fairy-tale heroes, Andreja Zupančič, Žiga Rustja, choir Lilith, Duo Pingo, children’s, youth and adult choirs and others will take children on a journey into the world of music. We will dance, sing and have fun with Vesele rokice (Happy Hands) – the real fairy-tale heroes.

But fun isn’t only for children! Adults will get a chance to to dance, enjoying the upbeat winter rhythms at the Lonka square, with music by Kompanija Izolana, Lisjaki, Vlado Kreslin, Čuki, Ne me jugat, Tempera band, Primorski fantje, and others.

IRONMAN – Road closure

Dear guests,

during the I Feel Slovenia IRONMAN 70.3 Slovenian Istria triathlon, several roads will be closed for traffic in Izola.

  • SATURDAY 21.09.: complete closure of Sončno nabrežje (from Gorkijeva ulica to Veliki trg) from 16:00 to 17:00.
  • SUNDAY 22.09.: complete closure of roads Cankarjev drevored – Trg republike -Trg republike – Sončno nabrežje – Veliki trg – Ulica ob Pečini – Tovarniška ulica – Zustovičeva ulica – eastbound, from 12:15 to 17:30.

From the old city center, occasional exit might be possible through Cankarjev drevored along the Ulica svobode.

Please check your arrival and departure time and keep in account the above road closures.
