Ivica Evačić – Ivek

Our Chef Ivica Evačić (also known as Ivek) started his culinary career in 1989, when he moved from the Croatian Zagorje to attend the Secondary School for Catering and Tourism in Izola. He immediately fell in love with the particularities that distinguish the Istrian land: its sea, its nature and its people.

After attaining his degree, Ivek explored different areas in the catering business. In 2003, he took over the managing of the Restaurant of Hotel Marina and rose it to a new level. With his contagious enthusiasm and persistence, he achieved what many people thought impossible: he transformed a usual hotel restaurant into a high-level a la carte gastronomic destination. He credits part of his success to the local suppliers, who keep supplying him with the best ingredients and, without a doubt, to his amazing team.

He cares about what you eat – that is why he only cooks with local, seasonal and homegrown goods. As there is nothing more important than a satisfied guest, Ivek knows that he is doing a good job. Our customers keep coming back and spreading the word about the uniqueness of the food.
